PPC/06 - ‘Megh Malhar’
About the Prints:
For the PPC’s 6th print release we present the work of Nasirul Islam who created a project documenting the Monsoon season in his village in Bangladesh.
Monsoon is a very special season of Bengal. During this time, the light and the weather here is unlike any other places on earth. This majestic beauty of the rain has influenced a great deal of poems, novels and songs in Bengali literature. I have longed to capture the essence of Monsoon in my village through my camera for a very long time. During my last semester as an undergraduate student of photography back in 2016, I spent two months in the village where I was born. As a photographer, I felt like I was seeing things from a fresh perspective. I have tried to capture the rhythm of Monsoon in a poetic way by taking photographs of nature, people and objects that greet this season every day.
